Architects and architectural professionals in Canada require Continuing Education or Learning hours to maintain their professional designation. Browse courses that meet your requirements, or choose one of our course packages, specially curated to contain all the hours and credits you need, in one place. The courses on LearnFormula may be counted towards professionally relevant, verifiable learning activities. It is the student's responsibility to validate whether an activity is an eligible educational activity for their professional development requirements based on their own learning needs.
All licensed members of the Northwest Territories Association of Architects (NWTAA) who designate it as their primary reporting jurisdiction must complete a total of 70 Continuing Education (CE) hours every two-year cycle. This includes a minimum of 25 hours of Structured Learning and 45 hours that may be Structured or Unstructured. The current reporting cycle runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026.
Structured Learning activities are organized educational sessions relevant to architecture or the business of architecture. They must:
Unstructured Learning includes professional development activities that are self-selected and related to architectural practice. These activities do not require proof of completion. Examples include professional reading, mentoring, committee participation, and informal learning relevant to the profession.
All CE activities must be recorded in the RAIC National Transcript System: https://www.raic.org/transcripts/default.htm
Members must self-report each activity and retain documentation for Structured Learning for at least two years following the close of the CE cycle. Unstructured Learning does not require evidence unless otherwise specified.
Members who designate a different Canadian jurisdiction as their primary CE reporting jurisdiction may be granted equivalency. The NWTAA will contact the designated jurisdiction to verify compliance.
Members may be selected for random audit in the year following the close of a CE cycle. Members must retain records for Structured Learning activities in case of audit. Failure to submit sufficient documentation during an audit may result in revisions to transcript records or further disciplinary action.
Courses on https://architecture.learnformula.com have been reviewed by LearnFormula’s Accreditation Department for alignment with NWTAA’s CE categories. Courses that address eligible subject matter and include an assessment or proof of participation are marked as Structured. Other courses may qualify as Unstructured based on relevance to professional development.
