Architects and architectural professionals in Canada require Continuing Education or Learning hours to maintain their professional designation. All licensed members of the Saskatchewan Association of Architects (SAA) are required to complete a minimum of 70 Continuing Education (Con Ed) hours within a two-year cycle. This must include at least 16 Core learning hours. The remaining 54 hours may be completed as either Core or Self-Directed learning. The current cycle runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026.

All Core learning activities are reviewed by SAA administration upon submission. SAA does not pre-approve providers or activities. Members are responsible for ensuring learning content meets Core eligibility and must retain a certificate of completion or letter of attendance that includes participant name, provider details, title, and date.
Self-Directed learning activities are automatically approved by the Con Ed Portal and do not require interactive components or review.

Courses that include an assessment or quiz component will be designated as Structured (Core) for the purpose of CE reporting. Courses without an assessment may still qualify as Self-Directed. Final acceptance of learning hours is at the discretion of the Saskatchewan Association of Architects.
